A bunch of SLGC photos taken by Julie

My camera - a Casio QV-11 - does not have great resolution and so these shots do best in a smallish format.  I got the camera in early 1997 and so it's getting a bit creaky and the pics sometimes come out a bit fuzzy these days.  Sorry 'bout that!

These are generally in the chronological order that I took them (newest at the top).
(All pictures copyright Julie Rampke.)

Lo and behold, I've found a bunch of old chorus retreat  (1998) photos!  Click here to get to them...

GALA or bust!

GALA Festival 2000
San Jose, California
July 22-31, 2000

Apologies that there aren't more general pics of chorus folks, but I was more in a mood to have fun and goof off during the week than I was to take pics.  And very few of the pics I took inside auditoriums came out.  The evening at Great America was too dark for shots.  Sorry 'bout that!

But here are some of the ones that turned out okay...

Manic Julie managing her own photo op in Coco's restaurant, San Jose.  (This was later in the week of GALA...)

We rode together in a convoy from Shirley's house.  Can you tell we'd been driving for several hours already, by this point?

Always charming...

Too sweet for words.

The light rail in San Jose.

Waiting for tech rehearsal...

Looks like Lore was ready to go back to bed...

Grace, in her swimming duds!

Point those toes!

(Rad, Marianne, Thayer, Debi, Shirley, Kirsten, and Kris.)

It's his fault for being willing to pose for me, okay?

It's this picture that gave me the idea for a new chorus fundraiser - the SLGC Calendar Men & Women!  We've already got Rad's picture... he told me I could do anything I wanted with it.  Chorus recruitment possibilities?

Richard and Kris takin' it easy...

Much better rested this time, Marianne and Kirsten looking more cheerful.

Shirley was in the No-Talent Show, and I grabbed one of the front seats reserved for photographers...

On Wednesday, Kirsten and I drove into San Francisco for our tattoos.  Here's Kirsten on Castro, pride flag waving behind her.

Here's Laura beginning work on my tattoo.  I'd originally planned to get a raven on my left bicep, but I'd gotten a sunburn when we'd gone swimming with the gang...

So I had to change all my plans and come up with a new design and location.  I thought maybe an ankh or lotus blossom on my ankle, but while I was looking through the portfolios I got other ideas.  My tattoo grew into a much larger and complicated design.  (And, incidentally, much more painful.  I don't recommend getting a tatto this large on your ankle.  The skin there is very sensitive.  It was over an hour of a heck of a lot of pain, lemme tell you.)

But I really love it and am glad I got it!  The shop who did it for me was Cold Steel, and they have two stores - one on Castro & Market and another on Haight & Cole.

Then it was Kirsten's turn.  This pic is from within the first few seconds of the artist having begun work, and it looks as if Kirsten is absolutely determined to keep smiling...

It's done!

Her tattoo was of her own design - neat, huh?

On Thursday night Kirsten, Mara, and I drove out to Santa Cruz to watch the sunset.  It was wonderful to get to walk on the beach!

I'd never had a martini, so decided to try one on Friday.

Here's to GALA!

Rehearsing for "10!" - May/June 2000

Sorry, no cute explanations to go with the pics, yet.  ;)  Those will come later when I have more time...

It was right in front of me and I couldn't resist.

(This is Lore's butt, by the way.  In case you were wondering.)
